Editorials and Articles in Palestinian Dailies
RAMALLAH, July 29, 2005, (WAFA) -Main Palestinian Daily Newspapers tackled in their editorials and articles several political issues:
Al-Hayat:
Yahyia Rabah said in his article entitled "DR. Salam Fayad and the Priorities":
Everyone attests to the achievement that Dr. Fayad (Minister of Finance) has done, in spite of the constant suffering to ensure money necessary for the general budget. This success has granted us endorsement from the donor countries.
He added that nowadays Fayad is facing a very critical issue which is the pay raise for the military. Today, he has a priority which is the salaries of the retired soldiers and officers. They are considered an army in a state of emergency specially as the withdrawal from the Gaza Strip is coming soon.
He continued: the Palestinian National Authority must work harmoniously to achieve this goal, which is ensuring that the withdrawal would be empty of harmful violations that have nothing to do with our national project.
Al-Quds
Al-Quds newspaper said in its editorial: the key meeting between the Prime Minister and the representatives of the Islamic and national factions denotes that there would be a comprehensive agreement on facing the challenges during the post-withdrawal period.
Everyone has realized the necessity to organize the Palestinian national house and that its inhabitants represent one family whose only concern is the safety of the homeland.
The daily added that the Palestinian National Authority and the factions must prove to the entire world that the Palestinian people are able to assume control over any liberated Palestinian land.
Al-Ayyam
Samih Shbeeb said in an article entitled "Gaza and the West Bank, is the a linkage after the Withdrawal?":
The US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice gave an initial answer about this issue and said "the Gaza Strip must be connected with the West Bank".
This stand does not mean, anyway, an American guarantee or an Israeli answer as it could be considered as throwing dust in the eyes.
The successive American Administrations has done more than what Rice has announced, when the Administration of Clinton gave the Palestinians guarantees to freeze the Israeli colonies.
