IOF Attacks Demonstration Protesting Construction of Mini-wall in Hebron
HEBRON, June 4, 2006 (WAFA)- Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) attacked Sunday morning peaceful demonstration protesting the construction of a mini-wall in a road that links the West Bank (WB) city of Hebron with the illegal colony of Sussiya.
The villagers of Qawawis south of Hebron woke up Wednesday morning to workers building a meter-high cement wall along the road 60 that runs through their lands.
The 20 KM mini-wall designed to keep Palestinian cars from accessing the settler-only road, which prevents citizens from being able to access their villages by car or being able to access their lands on the other side of the road. Sheep, tractors or even donkeys will not be able to access the land.
Farmers, accompanied by international and Israeli pacifists, from American-Christian Peace Team and Rabbis for Human Rights participated in the demonstration, demanding a gap to be left for villagers to be able to pass through.
Israeli soldiers assaulted the demonstrators, who tried to stop Israeli bulldozers from leveling the farmers' lands between Sussiya and Qawawis villages, in favour of the mini-wall.
In the meantime, Israeli bulldozers started in the morning razing vast areas on the lands opposite the road 60, east of Yatta town.
