Conference at Haifa University on "Separation Walls between Arabs, Jews in Israel"

NAZARETH, June 2, 2006 (WAFA)- The Nazareth-based Arab Association for Human Rights (HRA) announced Friday that it will hold next Sunday a conference at Haifa University ender the title "Separation Walls between Arabs and Jews in Israel."

Following the publication of Behind the Walls: Separation Walls between Arabs and Jews in Mixed Cities and Neighbourhoods in Israel in December 2005, HRA said it will hold the conference, in coordination with the Jewish-Arab Centre and Haifa University.

The purpose of the conference is two-fold: To bring the issue of separation walls within Israel to the academic forefront and to provide a novel platform for varied views/solutions on these separation walls.

The conference will consist of three sessions and will host a number of academics, Israeli community leaders (Jewish and Arab) from Israel's mixed cities, political representatives and experts in the fields of law and geography. The HRA will present its take on the separation walls from a human rights perspective.
