PRCS: IOF Continues to Violate International Humanitarian Law

RAMALLAH, April 6, 2006 (WAFA) - Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) said that Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) continued to violate international humanitarian law and fundamental Human Rights in the Occupied Palestinian Territories (OPT).

In a weekly press release for the period 25-31 March 2006 issued Thursday, the Society revealed that Israeli soldiers restricted freedom of movement to PRCS ambulances and its medical teams, adding that such measures of delays, denial of access and arbitrary searches had a negative impact on wounded and sick in Jenin and Qaqilia cities.

PRCS also made it clear that during this reporting period, a total of 4 death and 7 injuries were reported in the West Bank (WB) and Gaza Strip (GS).

It concluded that these practices constitute a breach of the Fourth Geneva Convention and the First Additional Protocol of the Geneva Conventions, which are legally applied to the OPT.
