PLC Speaker Warns of Israel's Plan to Transfer 360 Prisoners from Negev to other Jails
RAMALLAH, April 2, 2006 (WAFA) - Speaker of the PLC, Dr. Aziz Duwaik, warned Sunday of the gravity of the Israeli act to transfer 360 prisoners from the Negev Prison to other prisons in Israel.... Dr. Duwaik told a joint press conference with the Minister of Prisoners' Affairs, Wasfi Qabha, in Ramallah, that this Israeli act is in violation to the international law, calling for intensifying solidarity with the Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails.... He said that the PLC is going to address the international parliaments and the UN Secretary-General to work for the immediate release of all Palestinian prisoners.... For his part, Minister Qabha said that about 500 Israeli soldiers surrounded the Negev Prison on Saturday night and attacked two departments, using tear gas and rubber bullets which caused the injury of scores of the prisoners.... He stressed that the Israeli authorities transferred 360 prisoners an unknown spot, adding that the prisoners are going to make several actions in protest of the Israeli practices..... Earlier, the PLC condemned in a press release the Israeli crime of transferring 360 Palestinian prisoners from the Negev Prison, south of Israel, into other prisons in Israel.... A.D.
