GAZA, May 17, 2004, (WAFA)-Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) completely blocked Monday morning the Gaza Strip and divided it into three parts, confining more than million Palestinian citizens into their homes, Palestinian security sources said.... The sources said that IOF blocked the only border crossing connecting the Gaza Strip with Egypt and with the entire world.... More than Million Palestinians are besieged inside the Gaza Strip, having no freedom to leave Gaza.... Thousands of patients, students, businessmen, athletics and visitors unable to leave Gaza, security sources said.... Palestinian medical sources said that tens of patients have tried to go to Egypt for treatment, but Israeli troops prevented them.... In the meantime, the IOF divided the Gaza Strip into three parts by blocking the two main military checkpoints of Abu Huli and al-Matahen, south of Gaza City.... The citizens are not allowed to move between the northern, middle and southern parts of the strip.... Students and schoolboys could not reach their universities and schools. The patients also are disallowed to reach hospitals. Hundreds of workers and farmers are forced to stay at home.
