2 Israeli Air strikes on Gaza, Wound 3 Civilians


GAZA, May 16, 2004, (WAFA) - For the second day running, Israeli helicopters "Apache" raided early Sunday civilian targets in Gaza City, witnesses and Palestinian security sources said.... The witnesses told WAFA that several Israeli warplanes hovered lowly over Gaza city sky, fired a number of missiles at a number of civilian buildings including Fatah movement office in al-Nazzar Street in al-Sheja'ia neighbourhood, eastern Gaza city and Islamic National Salvation Party weekly newspaper, in al- Nasser neighbourhood, witnesses said.... They added that the warplanes fired two missiles against the building, wounding a three-year boy.... Palestinian municipal sources confirmed that the bombing inflicted a grave damage to the movement's office which only provides cultural and social services.... Palestinian security sources reported that minutes after the first raid, the Israeli "Apache" helicopters bombed a ten-storey building near Open Al-Quds University in al-Nasser neighbourhood of Gaza City.... They added that the bombing targeted the weekly-issued al-Rissala newspaper which is located in the first floor of the building. The Israeli warplanes fired two missiles due to which a strong fire blazed inside the flat, causing a strong damage. The electricity service was cut.... Medical sources at al-Shifa Hospital said that two pedestrians were wounded and taken to hospital.
