Palestinian Leadership Calls for Ending Israel's Terror
RAMALLAH, May 15, 2004, (WAFA)- The Palestinian Leadership said Friday night that the extremist Israeli government tries to destroy any attempt to achieve peace, adding that the Israeli organized terror against the Palestinian people contradicts the international legitimacy and the signed agreements.... In a meeting, headed by President Yasser Arafat, in Ramallah, the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) Executive Committee (EC) and the representatives of the Palestinian organizations, the Leadership said that the Israeli crimes in al-Zaytoon neighbourhood, Rafah Refugee Camp, and all Palestinian cities, prove that Israel is not a real partner for achieving peace.... "The government of Israel proves, through its aggressive practices, maneuvers and illusion initiatives, that it is not a genuine partner for achieving peace in the region. It lacks the seriousness of the elected Palestinian leadership's stands," the Leadership said in a statement.... The Palestinian Leadership called on the Quartet Committee and the US Administration to observe the continued Israeli terrorist policies in the Occupied Palestinian Territories (OPT) which contradict the peace process, Road Map and President Bush's vision.... It also stressed the necessity on ending the Israeli terror especially the use of the internationally prohibited weapons, especially the depleted Uranium.... As for Israeli (expected) partially pulling out from the Gaza Strip, the Leadership stressed that such withdrawal should be coincided with withdrawal from the West Bank aa a part of the Road Map.... It concluded that the elected Palestinian Leadership is the only authorized body which has the right to negotiate on behalf the Palestinian people to solve the Palestinian- Israeli conflict and to maintain a lasting and comprehensive peace. It added that any attempt to bypass the Palestinian Leadership will be doomed to failure....
