WEST BANK, MAY 8,2004, (WAFA)-Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) arrested early Saturday two citizens in the West Bank city of Jenin, witnesses said.... Eyewitnesses reported that Israeli soldiers backed by tanks and armoured vehicles swept into Qabatia village, south of Jenin, and launched a door-to-door search campaign, arresting two civilians.... Local sources told WAFA that Israeli soldiers and tanks opened heavy machine gunfire at civilians' houses, causing a state of panic among women and children.... Meanwhile in Nablus, several Israeli tanks and armoured vehicles backed by a U.S. made Apache helicopter, thrust into Nablus and imposed a strict curfew on the city.... WAFA correspondent reported that Israeli soldiers broke into some civilians' houses and turned them into military posts.... In Tubas town, Israeli forces at pre-dawn broke into the city and installed a military checkpoint on the main road which links Tubas with other cities of the West Bank.... Witnesses said that the Israeli checkpoint aims at destroying and hindering the daily life of the Palestinian....
