IOF Intensifies Siege on Tulkarem
TULKAREM, April 17, 2004, (WAFA)- Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) have strengthened its siege on the West Bank city of Tulkarem and its Refugee Camps, witnesses and Palestinian security sources said.... Witnesses said that several IOF armoured vehicles and patrols have positioned at the entrances of the Refugee Camps of Nour-Shams and Tulkarem, and reinforced deployment at the junctions of the city, detaining Palestinian vehicles and pedestrians.... Israeli soldiers intensively opened fire at Palestinian vehicles and terrified passengers. They held and searched scores of cars. Tens of pedestrians were detained for several hours, eyewitnesses said... . Palestinian security sources said that Israeli troops deployed more armoured vehicles in the Refugee Camps of Nour-Shams and Tulkarem. Israeli soldiers are still occupying some buildings having turned them into watchtowers.... Hundreds of students and workers were unable to reach their schools and works as Israeli soldiers prevented them passing through the checkpoints. Witnesses told WAFA reporter....
