Weather forecast: Low pressure to affect region

 

RAMALLAH, Friday, March 06, 2020 (WAFA) – Friday’s temperature is set to plummet, paving the way to cloudy and cold conditions in daytime and very cold conditions in nighttime, said the Palestinian Meteorological Department (PMD).

Scattered torrential rainfall is expected on most districts along with thunderstorms and occasional hail in daytime, with the rainfall subsiding towards the night.

Moderate to active northwesterly to westerly wind prevails with occasional gusts. Sea waves are medium to high.

Temperature in Jerusalem and Bethlehem is expected to reach a high of 13°C and a low of 9°C and in Ramallah and Hebron, a high of 12°C and a low of 8°C. In Jericho, the Dead Sea and the Jordan Valley, temperature is expected to reach a high of 21°C and a low of 13°C, while it is expected to reach a high of 17°C and a low of 13°C in Gaza and the coastal areas.

Saturday’s weather is partly cloudy and relatively cold in daytime and cold to very cold in nighttime with a slight rise in temperature. Scattered light rainfall is expected on some districts in daytime, with the chance of rainfall waning towards the night.

Sunday’s temperature is set to significantly rise, becoming unseasonably high, paving the way to mainly clear and mild conditions in all districts.

Monday’s temperature is set to further significantly rise, approaching around 6°C above the seasonal average, with clear and relatively warm conditions in all districts.

PMD warns people against floods in flood-prone area, low horizontal visibility, slippery roads and gusty wind on Friday.
