Newspapers Review: Defending Jabal al-Arma mountain, Israeli elections highlight of dailies

RAMALALH, Tuesday, March 3, 2020 (WAFA) – Palestinians attempting to block Israeli takeover of Jabal al-Arma mountain in Beita town in the north of the West Bank and the Israeli elections were highlighted on the front page of the three Palestinian Arabic dailies today.

While al-Hayat al-Jadida made Jabal al-Arma issue its top front-page story, al-Quds and al-Ayyam made the Israeli elections their top story focusing mainly on the initial results of the exit polls which showed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu advancing on this opponent in Blue/White party Benny Gantz.

The two papers nevertheless gave Jabal al-Arma issue prominence on their front page, printing as well pictures of the Palestinian protesters standing on the mountain in defiance of the Israeli takeover attempts. The papers said many Palestinians were injured protecting their mountain.

Al-Hayat al-Jadida also reported on the visit of Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh to Tunisia and his meetings there.

Al-Ayyam said Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh met in Moscow with the Russian foreign minister.

Al-Quds said 10 pediatricians working at Palestine Medical Complex in Ramallah have submitted their resignation claiming Health Minister Mai Kaileh has offended them.

Coronavirus also received prominent space on the front page of the three Palestinian Arabic dailies today, particularly that it was discovered in three more Arab countries.
