Jerusalem electricity to ask High Court to order Israeli company to stop power cuts

JERUSALEM, Wednesday, November 27, 2019 (WAFA) – The Jerusalem District Electricity Company (JEDCO) said today that it is going to petition the Israeli High Court to get the Israel Electricity Company (IEC) to stop cutting power to JEDCO customers as a punishment for not paying late debt.

JDECO’s chairman of the board and its director general, Hisham Omari, stressed in a statement that the petition will be submitted to the Israeli High Court against IEC after all legal procedures with the Israeli company to stop its measures against the Palestinian company have failed.

He warned about the repercussions of this blackout by the Israeli company, which cuts power for two hours a day on most areas within JEDCO’s operations and is planning to increase that to three hours, on life in general in the Palestinian areas, mainly affecting hospitals, clinics, schools and businesses.
