RAMALLAH, Tuesday, November 26, 2019 (WAFA) – Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails declared a number of protest steps, including returning all meals for three days in mourning of prisoner Sami Abu Diak, who died this morning from cancer while behind Israeli bars, according to the Palestinian Prisoner’s Society (PPS).
Prisoners announced that they will all dress in black during the daily counting and to chant the name of Sami of Diak instead of their names.
Tension was high throughout the Israeli prisons this morning following the announcement that Abu Diak has died.
Abu Diak, 37, from Silat al-Dahr village in the northern West Bank district of Jenin, died this morning in the Israeli hospital Asaf Harofeh as a result of what the Commission said was “the policy of deliberate and systematic clinical killings by the (Israel) Prison Services.” He was suffering from cancer and several appeals to release him on humanitarian grounds to get proper treatment in hospital were rejected.
Palestinian Presidency and government today held Israel accountable for the death of Sami Abu Diak while in prison due to what they said was premeditated medical negligence by the Israel Prison Services.
