Consul General of France turns over his credentials to Foreign Minister

RAMALLAH, Tuesday, November 26, 2019 (WAFA) - Consul General of France in Jerusalem René Troccaz, handed over today his credential to Riyad Malki, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates.

Al-Malki stressed the importance of strengthening and enhancing the bilateral ties between the town countries, urging France and the countries that have not yet recognized the state of Palestine within the 1967 borders and with East Jerusalem as its capital, to do so in response to the position of the United states which contradicts with international law.

He urged France to play and active role as member of the European Union (EU) and to implement the United Nations resolutions on the Palestinian issue.

Al-Malki warned of Israel’s attempts to exploit the Pompeo declaration on Israeli settlements; that the US no longer considers the Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories as violating international law.

For his part, Troccaz stressed that he would work toward strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries, affirming France’s firm stance towards the Palestinian issue and the two state solution in accordance with UN resolutions, as well as towards the establishment of a Palestinian state within the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
