RAMALLAH, Tuesday, November 26, 2019 (WAFA) – The Israeli demolition of a coffee shop int the southern West Bank village of Battir, as well as confrontation in other areas while Arab foreign ministers discuss in Cairo their response to the US declaration that settlements are not inconsistent with international law were highlighted on the front page of the three Palestinian Arabic dailies today.
Al-Quds and al-Hayat al-Jadida gave prominence to the demolitions, while al-Ayyam highlighted the Arab foreign ministers’ meeting and said that US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, who made the widely condemned and rejected declaration on settlements, called on the Arabs to end their boycott of Israel and start dialogue with it.
Al-Quds and al-Hayat al-Jadida said the foreign ministers have rejected the Pompeo declaration and said that calls were made for a day of rage today in the occupied territories in protest.
The three papers also highlighted the Palestinian cabinet meeting, particularly its decision to ban import of olive oil this year due to abundance of this product in the local market.
Al-Quds said Israel has deported Omar Shakir, Human Rights Watch office director in Palestine and Israel.
It said in a report from its Washington correspondent that Jason Greenblatt, the former US envoy to the Middle East, has joined the pro-settlements Republican Jewish lobby in Washington.
It talked in another story about achievement in favor of Palestine in the Democratic Party in the US.
Al-Ayyam said the United Nations agency for Palestine refugees, UNRWA, is facing one of its most serious financial crises since its establishment in 1950 with a deficit of $332 million.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida said Hamas withheld the minister of public works at Beit Hanoun/Erez crossing with Israel and assaulted his wife.
The papers also reported on the political crisis in Israel with the indictment of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on corruption charges, and the protests in Lebanon, Iraq and Iran.
