PA minister injured by Israeli rubber-coated bullets near Ramallah

RAMALLAH, August 30, 2018 (WAFA) – Minister Walid Assaf, chairman of the Commission against the Wall and Settlements, was injured on Thursday when he was shot by rubber-coated bullets by Israeli soldiers in the village of Ras Karkar, near Ramallah in the occupied West Bank.

Assaf said he was partaking in a nonviolent protest against Israeli plans to confiscate lands in the village when Israeli soldiers fired rubber-coated steel rounds at them. He was shot and lightly injured in his left ear.

Two of his escorts were also injured in the hand and leg respectively after being shot by rubber-coated bullets.

The minister called for further protests to confront Israel’s attempts to take over Palestinians’ lands in the village.
