Clashes erupt during Israeli army raids into Ramallah, Birzeit

 

RAMALLAH, Monday, September 23, 2019 (WAFA) – A number of Palestinians suffocated by tear gas during Israeli army raids carried out in the early dawn hours into Ramallah, in the central West Bank, as well as into Birzeit and Barham towns, north of Ramallah in the central West Bank.

Clashes reportedly broke out in al-Masyoon and al-Masayef neighbourhoods in Ramallah as well as in Birzeit city, during which Israeli forces fired tear gas canisters toward Palestinian residents, causing several suffocation cases among them.

The mother of Birzeit university student Yazan Maghames, who is currently held in Israeli jails, and Basil Flyyan, a Birzeit university student, were detained during the raids into Birzeit and Barham towns.

Itiraf Rimawi, the executive director of Bisan Center for Research and Development and an ex-detainee were also detained during the raids.
