Three children die from suffocation in parked car

JERUSALEM, May 24, 2018 (WAFA) – Three children died on Thursday after they suffocated from lack of oxygen when they were locked inside a parked car in the town of Izzariyeh, to the southeast of Jerusalem, according to Palestinian police report.

Police spokesman Loai Erzekat said the three children, aged two and three years old and identified as the two sisters Ranim and Rahav Abu Ghalieh and Yousef Ibayyat, died after they suffocated from lack of oxygen when they were locked in the car with its windows shut on a hot summer day.

He said the three children were brought dead to a medical center in nearby Abu Dis.

According to Erzekat, the children apparently were playing near their home when they entered into the car parked near a car body paint shop and for some reason its doors locked and they could not get out.

He said the car was illegal.

Police and the public prosecution started investigations into the tragic incident, said Erzekat.
