Islamic affairs minister condemns Israeli police ban on conference in East Jerusalem

 

RAMALLAH, July 14, 2018 (WAFA) – Minister of Waqf and Religious Affairs in the Palestinian Authority, Yousef Ideis, condemned on Saturday an Israeli ban on holding a conference in East Jerusalem that was supposed to discuss the status of Muslim endowment and property in the occupied city.

The two-day “Fourth Academic Conference on Islamic Waqf (endowment) in Jerusalem”, organized by the Jerusalem Waqf and Heritage Reservation Society and the Islamic Supreme Committee – Jerusalem, was planned to open on Saturday at of Al-Quds University’s College of Arts in Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood of East Jerusalem with many papers and discussions by researchers and academics from Palestine and abroad.

Ideis said Israel persists in its violations in Jerusalem, particularly when it comes to Islamic property, history and culture, by banning a conference that was supposed to talk about preservation of Muslim and Christian endowment, history and heritage in the holy city.
