Palestinian prisoner completes 18 years behind bars

 

JENIN, Sunday, April 5, 2020 (WAFA) – Palestinian political prisoner in Israeli detention Thabet Azmi Mardawi, 43, completes today 18 years behind Israeli prison bars, said the Palestinian Prisoner Society.

Mardawi, who comes from the town of Arraba occupied West Bank, was arrested on April 5, 2002, and was sentenced to 21 life sentences and an additional 40 years. 

He is suffering various health issues, including a disc in the back, and has also been denied family visits at many times by the Israeli occupation authorities as a punishment.

The Israeli occupation is still incarcerating more than 5,000 Palestinian and Arab prisoners for resisting its occupation of their homeland.
