HEBRON, Thursday, June 13, 2019 (WAFA) – Palestinian landowners in the south of the West Bank were told by the Israeli military government that a large chunck of their land will be seized, according to a local official.
Rateb Jabour, from the anti-wall, anti-settlements committee, said that Israel informed landowners in the towns of Yatta and Bani Naim, southeast of Hebron, that 4800 dunums (1 dumum = 1000 square meters) of their land will be seized.
He said the residents were told to stop any kind of work they were undertaking on this land and that they have 45 days to object to this order starting May 25.
Jabour said Israel wants to use this land to expand the illegal Bani Haifer Jewish settlement built on Palestinian land southeast of Bani Naim.
