President Abbas discusses developments with Jordan‘s Abdullah

 

AMMAN, Thursday, May 23, 2019 (WAFA) – President Mahmoud Abbas discussed today the latest political developments in Palestine and the Middle East region with King Abdullah II of Jordan.

During a meeting in Amman, King Abdullah emphasized the firm stance of Jordan towards the Palestinian question which calls for the creation of an independent state of Palestine n the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The King also called for maintaining the historical and religious  status quo in Jerusalem, in reference to the Jordanian custody of the holy Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in the city, amid attempts by Israel to take over the holy site.

Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh, PLO Secretary General Saeb Erekat, Fatah Central Committee member Hussein al-Sheikh, and intelligence chief Majed Faraj, attended the meeting.
