RAMALLAH, Thursday, May 23, 2019 (WAFA) – Unusual hot weather conditions are expected to prevail today with temperature approaching 13°C above the seasonal average, said the Palestinian Meteorological Department (PMD).

Wind is southeasterly, light to moderate and sea waves are low.

Temperature in Jerusalem and Bethlehem is expected to reach a high of 38°C and a low of 29°C and in Ramallah and Hebron, a high of 37°C and a low of 28°C. In Jericho, the Dead Sea and the Jordan Valley, temperature is expected to reach a high of 44°C and a low of 32°C, while it is expected to reach a high of 38°C and a low of 30°C in Gaza and the coastal areas.

Friday‘s temperature is expected to be scorching and approach 14°C above the seasonal average with extremely hot and dry conditions in all districts.

The heat wave is expected to subside on Saturday as temperature is expected to significantly drop and become 6°C above the average.

Another drop in temperature is expected for Sunday to become 5°C above the seasonal average.

PMD warns people against direct exposure to sunlight for long period, particularly from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm, and setting fire to dry leaves and grass.
