Israeli forces detain 11 Palestinians from the West Bank

TULKAREM, Monday, May 06, 2019 (WAFA) – Israeli forces Monday overnight detained 11 Palestinians from various parts of the West Bank, said the Palestinian Prisoner’s Society (PPS).

PPS confirmed in a statement that Israeli forces detained five Palestinians from the northern West Bank district of Tulkarm.

PPS said that three Palestinians were detained from Jerusalem district.

Elaborating on the Jerusalem raids, security sources said that Israeli police detained two Palestinians from the East Jerusalem neighborhood of al-Issawiya.

They added that another was assaulted and detained after he attended the Taraweeh prayer on the first night of Ramdan month inside Al-Aqsa Mosque compound.

In Ramallah district, Israeli forces conducted a similar raid in Silwad town, northeast of Ramallah city, resulting in the detention of a Palestinian.

In the southern West Bank, Israeli military vehicles raided al-Arrub refugee camp, north of Hebron, where soldiers rounded up a Palestinian.

Similar military raids were confirmed in Idhna and Sair towns, northeast of Hebron, resulting in the confiscation of surveillance camera recordings and destruction of solar panels.

Another Palestinian was detained from Jericho district.

Israeli forces frequently raid Palestinian houses almost on a daily basis across the West Bank on the pretext of searching for “wanted” Palestinians, triggering clashes with residents.

These raids, which take place also in areas under the full control of the Palestinian Authority, are conducted with no need for a search warrant, whenever and wherever the military chooses in keeping with its sweeping arbitrary powers.
