RAMALLAH, Monday, May 06, 2019 (WAFA) – The massive Israeli airstrikes on the besieged Gaza Strip that shattered a month-long lull in violence dominated the front page headlines in Monday’s issue of the three Palestinian Arabic dailies.
Al-Quds and al-Hayat al-Jadida said that 25 Palestinians, including two toddlers, two pregnant women and a child, were killed and over 150 others wounded in the Israeli air raids on the coastal enclave.
Al-Quds added that four Israelis were killed and some 200 others were wounded by Palestinian rocket fire.
Al-Ayyam said that before a ceasefire agreement was reached, Israeli occupation authorities broadened their onslaught on Gaza, as Palestinian resistance groups continued to fire rockets at southern Israel.
According to al-Ayyam and al-Hayat al-Jadida, President Mahmoud Abbas instructed Palestine’s envoy to the United Nations Riyad Mansour to call on the United Nations Security Council to immediately convene to halt the Israeli onslaught on Gaza.
Abbas was also reported in al-Ayyam and al-Hayat al-Jadida reiterating that national unity is the optimal response to all conspiracies against the Palestinian question, including the US-touted deal of the century plan.
He was also reported pledging to continue to support the families of Palestinian prisoners and others killed and injured by Israel.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida reported Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh stressing that calm could be restored in Gaza only after Israel shows commitment to implementing the clam understandings and halt its onslaught on the besieged enclave.
Highlighting the latest developments on the violence flare-up in Gaza, al-Hayat al-Jadida reported Israeli media reports indicating that efforts exerted by Egypt and the United Nations envoy succeeded in restoring clam.
Furthermore, al-Ayyam said that Israeli bulldozers uprooted 120 fruitful olive trees in al-Lubban al-Gharbi village, west of Ramallah.
Additionally, al-Hayat al-Jadida reported Fatah Central Committee’s member Nasser Qudwa stressing that it is prohibited to deal with the so-called deal of the century.
