Jordan calls for halting Israeli aggression on Gaza

AMMAN, Sunday, May 05, 2019 (WAFA) – Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates warned against the ramifications of Israeli escalation in the besieged Gaza Strip, calling for an immediate halt and abiding by international humanitarian law, according to Petra, the official news agency of Jordan.

The Ministry said in a press statement released today that “violence will only cause more tension and suffering, calling for pacification, and underlining its support for the efforts both Egypt and the United Nations exert to achieve peace,” according to a ministry statement released on Sunday.

The ministry also stressed the importance of halting all military operations in the coastal enclave whose residents suffer from a humanitarian and life crisis as a result of the illegal blockade and collective punishments Israel imposes, said Petra.

It said the continued absence of prospects for peace, the ongoing occupation and the siege imposed on Gaza constitute the greatest threat to security and stability in the region.

The ministry called on the international community to act immediately to stop the violence and achieve pacification and protection for the brotherly Palestinian people.

On resolving the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, it urged coming up with real prospects for resolving the conflict based on the two-state solution, which guarantees the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on June 4, 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capita, said Petra.
