Embassy following up on reports of Palestinian who died in Turkish custody

RAMALLAH, Monday, April 29, 2019 (WAFA) – The Palestinian embassy in Ankara said today that it was following up the death of a Palestinian citizen while in Turkish custody, as well as the arrest of another Palestinian by Turkish police.

It said in a statement that Samer Shaaban and Zaki Mubarak were missing in Turkey since April 3 and after following their case with the Turkish authorities they were found to be in Turkish custody on security charges and that they will be put on trial.

It said it was informed yesterday by Turkish officials that Mubarak has committed suicide in prison. His death was later confirmed.

The Turkish authorities did an autopsy on the body to find the reason for his death and that the embassy is waiting for the final report.
