Newspaper review: Palestinian youth dies of wounds sustained by Israeli forces

RAMALLAH, Sunday, April 28, 2019 (WAFA) – The three Palestinian Arabic dailies focused in their Sunday issue on the death of a Palestinian youth yesterday from wounds sustained last week when he was shot by Israeli soldiers near the city of Nablus in the occupied West Bank.

They said Omar Awni Younes, 20, from the village of Sanniriya in the occupied West Bank, died at an Israeli hospital about one week after he was shot dead by Israeli soldiers at Za’tara military checkpoint, on Nablus-Ramallah road.

Al-Ayyam said that under pressure from the Israeli municipality of Jerusalem, a Palestinian family proceeded yesterday to demolish its own home in Silwan, a neighborhood in occupied East Jerusalem.

Al-Hayat al-Jadida and al-Ayyam said Christians across Palestine celebrated yesterday the Holy Saturday ahead of Easter holiday, which marks what Christians believe as the resurrection of Jesus from the grave.

Al-Ayyam said factions in Gaza rejected a newly formed political framework outside the umbrella of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO). The framework, called for by Hamas, defines itself as a bloc countering the US-led deal of the century.

Al-Quds quoted Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh as saying the government is working towards promoting balanced development among all governorates.

Al-Ayyam said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said it was closely following up the case of Mohammad Ismail Bheisi, 30, from Gaza, who was found dead on a beach in Turkey.
