RAMALLAH, Saturday, April 27, 2019 (WAFA) – British Prime Minister Theresa May reaffirmed today her government’s commitment to the two-state solution, which came in a letter to her Palestinian counterpart, Mohammad Shtayyeh, congratulating him on assuming his new post.
May stressed in the letter the depth and importance of the ties between the British and Palestinian people, and that cooperation in the field of education is a source of pride in their bilateral relations, hoping to further expand this cooperation.
The United Kingdom remains committed to the two-state solution achieved through negotiations, May said in the letter, stressing the continued support of her country for the efforts to prepare for a sovereign and viable Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders with an agreed land swap, Jerusalem as a shared capital, and Gaza an integral part of it to live in peace and security alongside Israel.
The British premier said she looks forward to receiving President Mahmoud Abbas in London, as well as the continuation of productive bilateral visits between members of the two governments.
