RAMALLAH, Tuesday, April 23, 2019 (WAFA) - Takeshi Okubo, Ambassador for the Palestinian Affairs and Representative of Japan to Palestine, visited Aqbat Jaber refugee camp, in the West Bank district of Jericho, to celebrate the completion of A project funded by the Government of Japan through Japan’s Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP).
Jericho and Jordan Valley Cooperative Association for Bee-breeding used a grant of $40,000 to upgrade Bee-box production machine and the rehabilitation of the cooperative building in Jericho and Jordan Valley Cooperative Association for Bee-breeding to stably provide cheaper beehives and other equipment’s to the beekeepers in Aqbat Jaber refugee camp.
200 households’ bee-keepers benefit from the project through the low prices of equipment the cooperative provided.
In his speech, Okubo emphasized Japan’s firm commitment of supporting Palestinian people from human security perspective as well as the importance of implementing social and economic development projects needed for Palestinian communities.
Since 1993 the Government of Japan has extended its official development assistance to approximately US$1.86 billion, to the Palestinians. GGP projects have been formulated in collaboration with the Palestinian Authority through Ministry of Finance and Planning since 2010.
