BETHLEHEM, Tuesday, April 23, 2019 (WAFA) – Israeli forces detained 18 Palestinians during multiple overnight raids across the West Bank, said the Palestine Prisoner’s Society (PPS).
Five Palestinians, including a 16-year-old teen, were detained in raids across the southern West Bank district of Bethlehem.
Palestinian security sources said that Israeli forces raided Tuqu town, southeast of Bethlehem, and detained two Palestinians.
Forces also conducted two separate raids into Beit Fajjar and al-Khader towns, located to the south of Bethlehem, detaining two Palestinians.
A similar military raid was reported in al-Doha town, west of Bethlehem, resulting in the detention of the fifth Palestinian.
Meanwhile, PPS confirmed that four Palestinians were rounded up from the southern West Bank district of Hebron.
Security sources elaborated that Israeli military vehicles raided Idna town, west of Hebron, detaining a Palestinian.
Israeli troops also conducted a raid into Deir Samet village, southwest of Hebron, detaining two others.
The fourth Palestinian was rounded up during a similar raid into al-Tabaqa area of Dura town.
In the northern West Bank, PPS said three Palestinians were detained during a raid that triggered confrontations in Qabatia town, south of Jenin.
Israeli soldiers fired a barrage of tear gas and concussion bombs towards Qabatia residents causing dozens to suffocate from tear gas inhalation. All suffocation cases received treatment at the scene.
Another Palestinian was handcuffed and blindfolded after being stopped at a flying checkpoint near the Arab American University in Jenin city.
Soldiers detained two others after ransacking their homes in al-Zawyeh town, west of Salfit.
In the central West Bank, PPS said that two Palestinians were rounded up from al-Mazra‘a al-Gharbiya and Kufr Nimeh towns, northwest and west of Ramallah city.
PPS said that a Palestinian was also detained from Jericho district.
