BERLIN, Wednesday, April 17, 2019 (WAFA) – German Chancellor Angela Merkel congratulated Mohammad Shtayeh on his new post as prime minister and wished him success in dealing with what she described as complex circumstances.
"I congratulate you on your appointment and swearing in as Prime Minister of the Palestinian Authority,” said Merkel.
“You and the Palestinian Authority are faced with difficult political, economic and social challenges that you have to deal with in complex circumstances.”
Merkel told Shtayeh that the German Federal Government “will continue to assist you in accomplishing these tasks and will exert effort in cooperation with its European partners to achieve a just and sustainable peace in the region,” wishing him “strength and success in your new position.”
