UK welcomes the formation of new Palestinian government

 

JERUSALEM, Tuesday, April 16, 2019 (WAFA) – The United Kingdom Minister of State for Asia and the Pacific Mark Field welcomed the formation of the new Palestinian government of Prime Minister Muhammad Shtayeh.

Field wrote on his official Twitter that the “UK remains committed to the Palestinian people and the partnership between our two Government, and looks forward to working with the new government.”

Meanwhile, British Consul General to Jerusalem Philip Hall congratulated Shtayeh on the formation of the new 18th government.

“I congratulate Prime Minister Mohammed Shtayeh and the whole Cabinet on the formation of a new Palestinian government, and wish them every success in their new roles,” he said.

“The UK looks forward to continuing its close partnership with the Palestinian Authority across a wide range of issues, among them the new Government’s priorities of reuniting the West Bank and Gaza Strip, strengthening democracy and building a strong economy for the Palestinian people,” he added.

“The UK remains committed to a two-state solution, achieved through negotiations, with Jerusalem as a shared capital,” he concluded.
