JERUSALEM, Saturday, April 06, 2019 (WAFA) – Israeli police banned late last night two more Palestinians from Jerusalem from being at Al-Aqsa Mosque, a top Muslim holy place in Jerusalem’s Old City, according to local sources.
Police detained the two young Palestinians yesterday as they were leaving the Mosque compound and held them at the Jaffa Gate police station until late at night before releasing them with an order to keep away from Al-Aqsa Mosque for two weeks.
Israeli police have been waging a campaign against men and women activists in Jerusalem who defied orders to keep Bab al-Rahma prayer area in Al-Aqsa Mosque closed.
Palestinians have vowed to keep the prayer area open despite all odds considering it part of the holy site and a Muslim-only worship area.
Officials of the Muslim Waqf department, which is in charge of Al-Aqsa Mosque and other Muslim property in Jerusalem, said that Israeli police have taken action in the last month against more than 50 of its employees and Mosque guards, including detention, house arrest and ban from being in the holy compound.
