Israeli forces detain 11 Palestinians from West Bank

JENIN, Wednesday, April 3, 2019 (WAFA) – Israeli forces detained at least 11 Palestinians and seized cash during multiple overnight raids across the West Bank, said security sources and witnesses.

Israeli forces raided a cluster of Palestinian villages to the south and southwest of Jenin, detaining a former prisoner, ransacking several homes, interrogating occupants and seizing cash.

Military raids were confirmed in the northern West Bank villages of Anza, Siris, Jaba and Arraba, south of Jenin, in addition to Kafr Ra‘i town, southwest of Jenin.

In Qalqilia district, a Palestinian former prisoner was assaulted and detained by Israeli soldiers as he attempted to cross a roadblock at the entrance of Izbat at-Tabib, east of Qalqilia city.

The detainee was identified as a resident of the neighboring town of Azzun.

In Jerusalem, Israeli police detained a Palestinian from inside Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, citing the opening of the Bab al-Rahma prayer area inside the mosque compound as a pretext.

Similar military raids were carried out across the southern West Bank district of Hebron, the Nablus-district towns of Beit Furik and Madama in addition to the Ramallah-district towns of Birzeit and al-Mazraa al-Gharbiya.

Israeli forces frequently raid Palestinian houses almost on a daily basis across the West Bank on the pretext of searching for “wanted” Palestinians, triggering clashes with residents.

These raids, which take place also in areas under the full control of the Palestinian Authority, are conducted with no need for a search warrant, whenever and wherever the military chooses in keeping with its sweeping arbitrary powers.
