Israeli army attacks students with teargas in Hebron, Bethlehem

HEBRON, Sunday, November 11, 2018 (WAFA) – Dozens of Palestinian students suffocated from teargas on Sunday after Israeli forces attacked them by gas canisters in three separate incidents in Hebron and Bethlehem districts in the West Bank, according to local sources.

In Bethlehem, dozens of students suffocated when Israeli soldiers fired gas canisters at them while taking part in rallies commemorating the 14th anniversary of the death of late Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat, in the villages of Taqu and Dar Salah.

Sabri Jibril, a local activist, told WAFA that Israeli soldiers intensively fired gas bombs and rubber-coated bullets towards the students in the vicinity of the Taqu’ school, causing cases of suffocation from gas inhalation.

Head of the Taqu’ municipality Tayseer Abu M’farreh told WAFA that Israeli soldiers briefly detained the school’s principal and other staff.

Meanwhile, dozens of students suffered from suffocation after Israeli forces raided the Tariq Ben Ziyad School in Hebron, as the students were marking the anniversary of Arafat’s death.

Ali Refa’eyya, school’s principal, said that the soldiers raided the school during the commemoration and fired stun grenades and toxic gas canisters towards the students, causing many cases of suffocation among them.
