WASHINGTON, Saturday, November 10, 2018 (WAFA) – Palestine was ranked 116 in the World Bank’s Doing Business Report 2019: Training for Reform and received a score of 59.11 out of 100 in the Ease of Doing Business score, slightly above the 58.3 regional average score for the Middle East and North Africa, yet lower than Jordan, but higher than Egypt and Lebanon.
The annual report, published at the end of October, is the World Bank’s 16th edition measuring the regulations affecting 11 areas of a business that enhance business activity and those that constrain it in 190 world economies.
In Starting a Business, Palestine was ranked 171 and scored 69.36, way below the regional average of 82 and lower than most Arab economies.
In Dealing with Construction Permits, Palestine ranked 157 and scored 56.15, in Getting Electricity, it ranked 85 and scored 74.16, Registering Property, rank 84, score 65.04, Getting Credit, rank 22 and score 80.00, Protecting Minority Investors, rank 161 and score 38.33, Paying Taxes, rank 107 and score 68.92, Trading across Borders, rank 54 and score 86.67, Enforcing Contracts, rank 123 and score 52.51, and Resolving Insolvency, rank 168.
