RAMALLAH, Saturday, November 10, 2018 (WAFA) – The situation in the Gaza Strip, its protests and the Qatari money that went in occupied most of the front page of the three Palestinian Arabic dailies on Saturday.
The three papers said one Palestinian was shot dead by Israeli soldiers on the Gaza border with Israel and dozens were injured during the weekly Friday protests.
At the same time, the papers reported on the millions of Qatari money that Israeli has allowed into Gaza through Erez/Beit Hanoun checkpoint. They said the Qatari ambassador to the Palestinian areas, Mohammad Amadi, transported the money in his car into Gaza to pay salaries of Hamas employees.
Al-Quds quoted Amadi saying that the Qatari money will continue to pour into Gaza for six months and he talked about further easing in the 12-year long Israeli blockade on Gaza. It printed a picture of a Palestinian policeman in Gaza showing the dollars he got in salary from the Qatari fund.
Al-Ayyam said protesters threw stones and metal at the convoy of the Qatari ambassador when it arrived at the protest site east of Gaza.
It quoted Palestine Liberation Organization official, Ahmad Majdalani, saying the Qatari money, which amounted to $15 million, went into Gaza in a contraband style. It printed a picture of the suit cases of money in the Amadi car going into Gaza.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida said in a headline on this issue that “Hamas sold the Palestinian blood for $15 million.”
It also quoted Fatah officials saying that “Hamas accepted the principle of ‘blood for money’ and passing deal of the shame through the humanitarian gate in Gaza.”
In other news, the papers also reported on the weekly Friday protests in the West Bank in which dozens of Palestinians were hurt from the Israeli army crackdown.
Al-Quds said in a report that the Israeli planning committee rejected three Palestinian projects and approved two projects for Jewish settlers in the illegal Israeli settlements of French Hill and Ramat Shlomo in occupied East Jerusalem.
In addition, said the paper, thousands of new settler units are going to be built in Ma’ale Adumim settlement east of Jerusalem.
It said US churches have condemned attempts by Israel to seize land that belong to the churches in Jerusalem.
The papers also reported on the floods in Jordan that claimed the lives of nine people.
