TULKAREM, Wednesday, November 07, 2018 (WAFA) – Israeli forces Wednesday surrounded the family home of a Palestinian accused of killing two settlers last month in the northern West Bank village of Shweika, north of Tulkarem, said WAFA correspondent.
A large number of Israeli troops raided Shweika village, and surrounded the family home of Ashraf Na‘alwa, the main suspect in killing two Israeli settlers in early October in the illegal Israeli settlement of Barkan, amidst the firing of stun grenades.
None of the Na‘alwa family was inside the two-storey home at the time of the raid.
Israeli military ordered the demolition of the home after an appeal by the Na‘alwa family against the punitive demolition was rejected by Israel’s High Court.
This came at a time when Israeli troops detained Na‘alwa’s father, Walid, during a predawn raid into the village.
Na‘alwa’s mother, Wafaa, brother, Amjad, and sister, Fayrouz, have been placed behind Israeli bars for around a month.
Israel resorts to punitively demolish the family homes of Palestinians – as means of deterrence – who are accused of being involved in attacks against Israelis, a policy that Israel does not use against Israeli settlers who are involved in fatal attacks against Palestinians.
