JENIN, Tuesday, October 30, 2018 (WAFA) – Israeli forces detained in overnight and early Tuesday raids conducted across the West Bank and East Jerusalem 17 Palestinians, said the Palestine Prisoner’s Society (PPS).

Israeli forces raided the northern West Bank town of Silat al-Dhahr, southwest of Jenin, where they detained eight Palestinians.

Among the detainees were Fatah Secretary-General in Jenin Qadri Abdul-Jawad Khanfar and two former prisoners.

Elsewhere in the northern West Bank, Israeli troops detained two Palestinians after ransacking their homes in Tubas.

Similar raids were reported across Nablus city, resulting in the detention of two Palestinians.

Additionally, troops detained two Palestinians and violently ransacked dozens of houses and stores during a raid that triggered clashes in Shweikeh neighborhood, north of Tulkarm.

Another Palestinian was rounded up from Qalqilia in addition to two others from Jerusalem.

Several hours afterwards, Israeli police detained two Palestinians and assaulted three others in the East Jerusalem neighborhood of Silwan.

Israeli forces conduct overnight detention raids almost on a daily basis across the West Bank, triggering clashes with residents.

Clashes often erupt between Palestinian youth who attempt to block soldiers’ passage, throwing stones and empty bottles and are met with live fire, rubber-coated steel bullets and tear gas canisters, often resulting in serious, sometimes fatal, injuries.
