Israeli forces detain 21 Palestinians in West Bank raids

 

BETHLEHEM, Monday, October 29, 2018 (WAFA) – Israeli forces Monday detained 21 Palestinians, including two minors, during multiple overnight raids across the West Bank, said the Palestinian Prisoner’s Society (PPS).

Israeli forces detained two siblings, aged 14 and 15, after storming their family’s home in Aida refugee camp, north of Bethlehem.

The detainees’ father is identified as Bassam Abu Aker, who has served 20 years in Israeli imprisonment.

PPS said that soldiers conducted other raids across the southern West Bank district of Bethlehem, including Tuqu’ town, detaining three others.

Meanwhile, Israeli forces detained two brothers after breaking into their family house in Hebron city.

Two others, including a 15-year-old minor, were detained from the southern West Bank district of Hebron.

In the meantime, Israeli police conducted several raids across  Jerusalem district, including Anata town, rounding up four Palestinians.

In Ramallah district, forces two Palestinians after storming their families’ homes in Beit Rima town, northwest of Ramallah.

PPS reported similar raids across Ramallah and al-Bireh district, resulting in the detention of three others.

In the northern West Bank, troops detained three Palestinians after ransacking their families’ homes in Jenin refugee camp.

Israeli forces conduct overnight detention raids almost on a daily basis across the West Bank, triggering clashes with residents.

Clashes often erupt between Palestinian youth who attempt to block soldiers’ passage, throwing stones and empty bottles and are met with live fire, rubber-coated steel bullets and tear gas canisters, often resulting in serious, sometimes fatal, injuries.
