RAMALLAH, Wednesday, October 24, 2018 (WAFA) – The killing of a Palestinian teenager by Israeli forces in a protest along the border in the central besieged Gaza Strip dominated the front page headlines in the three Arabic Palestinians dailies on Wednesday.

Al-Ayyam and al-Hayat al-Jadida reported that a Palestinian teenager was killed and six others were wounded by Israeli forces to the east of Deir al-Balah in the central besieged impoverished enclave, while al-Quds said that a total of five protestors were injured.

The teenager, identified as Muntaser Mohammad al-Baz, 17, reportedly succumbed to his critical wounds after being shot in the head.

On the other hand, al-Hayat al-Jadida reported that President Mahmoud Abbas concluded his successful visit to the Sultanate of Oman, a theme that was also covered by al-Ayyam.

The dailies also reported that Israeli forces dismantled and seized educational caravans belonging to the school of late Marwan Majli, known as “Tahadi 10”, in Khirbet Ibiziq, a village in the northern Jordan Valley.

Additionally, the dailies highlighted the Israeli mayor of Jerusalem Nir Barkat’s raid into the East Jerusalem neighborhood of Shufat.

They explained the raid came in line with Barkat’s announced plan to remove the United Nations’ agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) from East Jerusalem.

Moreover, al-Quds highlighted an Israeli occupation authorities’ decision to seize 47 dunums of land belonging to al-Ram town, north of Jerusalem.

It reported mayor of al-Ram, Raqi Ghazawneh, stating that the Israeli military’s decision to seize 47 dunums of the town’s land would effectively consolidate the separation of three lots, deemed the only remaining breathing space for the town.

Highlighting other attacks in the West Bank, al-Ayyam and al-Hayat al-Jadida said that Israeli forces sealed the northern entrance to the southern West Bank town of Halhul with a metal gate.

Al-Ayyam added that Israeli forces detained 15 Palestinians during multiple overnight raids across the West Bank.

It said that scores of Israeli Jewish settlers forced their way into East Jerusalem’s flashpoint Al-Aqsa Mosque compound.

Yet, al-Quds reported Palestinian Health Ministry warning that patients with kidney failures in Gaza face imminent death as a result of the shortage of medicines.

According to al-Quds and al-Hayat al-Jadida, France has called on Israel to “permanently abandon their plans to demolish Khan al-Ahmar …”.

Additionally, al-Ayyam covered Israeli officials’ statements indicating that it was highly likely that the rocket that hit Beersheva the last week was fired due to a lightning storm, effectively confirming that both Hamas and Islamic Jihad were not responsible for the rocket firing.

Al-Hayat al-Jadida highlighted Chinese Vice-President Wang Qishan’s meeting with Palestinian officials in Ramallah. It explained that Premier Rami Hamdallah asked Beijing to support Abbas’ peace initiative.
