Israel detains mother of alleged attacker among 20 others

 

RAMALLAH, Wednesday, October 17, 2018 (WAFA) – The Israeli military detained on Wednesday Wafa Naawleh, mother of Ashraf Naawleh who is accused of killing two Israeli settlers earlier this month in a West Bank settlement, among 20 others rounded up in overnight and early morning raid on different areas, according to the Palestinian Prisoner’s Society (PPS).

It said Wafa Naawleh was detained for the fourth time since the incident apparently in an effort to get her son, who is still at large, to turn himself in.

The army also detained three other people from the Tulkarm district, home of the alleged attacker, including a 16 year old boy, also as part of effort to get to Ashraf Naawleh and as collective punishment for the entire city, which is being raided by the army almost daily.

In addition, the army detained four people from the Jenin district in the north of the West Bank at an army checkpoint between Ramallah and Nablus, one more from the Nablus district and two from the Toubas district.

One person was detained from the Ramallah area village of Kufr Nimeh, said the PPS.

In the Bethlehem area in the south of the occupied West Bank, soldiers detained two people from Taqo village, including son of a prisoner serving 11 life sentences, and one from Dheisheh refugee camp.

Four were also detained from Beit Ummar, between Bethlehem and Hebron, said the PPS.

One Palestinian was detained in Jerusalem.
