JERUSALEM, Wednesday, October 17, 2018 (WAFA) – Bulldozers of the Israeli municipality in West Jerusalem demolished on Wednesday a Palestinian-owned house in Jabal al-Mukkaber, southeast of the occupied city of Jerusalem, under the pretext that it was built without a permit.
WAFA correspondent in Jerusalem said that the bulldozers, accompanied by a large military force, demolished the 100-square meter house owned by Khalil Zaatreh and is inhabited by a family of eight members, mostly children.
He said that Israeli forces assaulted members of the Zaatreh family when they were being forced to evict the house.
Palestinians say they are forced to build without a permit in occupied Jerusalem because getting a building permit is virtually impossible as the right-wing mayor of West Jerusalem attempts to keep the city’s Palestinian population at a bare minimum while multiplying its Jewish residents by approving the construction of thousands of new housing units in Jewish-only settlements.
