Over 3 percent increase in trade deficit in April, says statistics bureau

 

RAMALLAH, June 19, 2018 (WAFA) - The trade balance in Palestine, which represents the difference between exports and imports, showed an increase in trade deficit by 3.2% in April compared to March, and an increase by 19.1% compared to April 2017 and reached $382 million, the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS) said on Tuesday.

Exports decreased in April by 3.3% compared to March while it increased by 7.9% compared to April 2017 and reached $91.5 million.

Exports to Israel decreased in April by 5.8% compared to March and it represented 87.1% of total exports in April.

On the other hand, exports to other countries increased by 18% during the same period compared to March.

Imports increased in April by 1.9% compared to March. It also increased by 16.8% compared to April 2017 and reached $473.5 million.

Imports from Israel increased by 3.2% in April compared to March and it represented 59.2% of total imports in April.

At the same time, imports from other countries slightly increased in April by 0.1% compared to March.
