Consumer Price Index down in May

 

RAMALLAH, June 13, 2018 (WAFA) - The overall Consumer Price Index (CPI) for Palestine decreased in May by 0.41% compared with April, the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS) said on Wednesday.

While CPI decreased by 0.94% in Gaza Strip, it increased by 0.31% in Jerusalem and by 0.22% in the West Bank.

CPI decreased in May by 0.87% when compared with the same month of last year. It decreased by 2.89% in Gaza Strip, while it increased by 0.76% in Jerusalem and by 0.40% in the West Bank.

The CPI decreased by 1.11% during the first five months of 2018 compared with the same period of the previous year. It decreased by 1.95% in Gaza Strip and by 0.86% in the West Bank, while it increased by 0.18% in Jerusalem.

The changes in CPI for May 2018 are traced back to changes in prices of the following expenditure sub groups compared with previous month:
