RAMALLAH, May 24, 2018 (WAFA) – Israeli forces Thursday detained at least nine Palestinians from the West Bank and the besieged Gaza Strip, said the Palestine Prisoner’s Society (PPS) and WAFA correspondent.
The PPS said Israeli forces detained four Palestinians, including a former prisoner, during an overnight raid that triggered confrontations in Azzun town, east of Qalqiliya.
Israeli forces reportedly fired live ammunition, tear gas canisters and concussion grenades towards youths who protested the raid and attempted to block their passage, causing dozens to suffocate from tear gas and extensive damage to a barbershop.
Meanwhile, forces conducted multiple raids across the northern West Bank city of Nablus, detaining two Palestinians.
Another Palestinian was detained in a similar predawn raid that triggered confrontations in al-Am‘ari refugee camp, south of Ramallah. During the raid, an Israeli soldier from the elite unit was critically wounded when hit by a brick on the head, according to the Israeli army.
Meanwhile, Israeli naval boats opened machine gunfire at several fishing boats at the coast of al-Sudaniyeh, northwest of Gaza City, detaining two Palestinians and seizing their boat, said WAFA correspondent.
