Arab information ministers urge to emphasize centrality of Palestinian cause

CAIRO, May 9, 2018 (WAFA) - Arab Information Ministers Wednesday stressed the importance of supporting the Palestinian cause and emphasizing the Arabic identity of occupied East Jerusalem.

At the end of the 49th Session of the Arab Information Ministers Council at the headquarters of the Arab League in Cairo, the council urged to expose the Israeli occupation’s violations of international laws and resolutions and crimes committed against Palestinian journalists and media organizations.

The Council stressed the need to exchange information that highlight the centrality of the Palestinian issue, especially Jerusalem, as well as the promotion of joint media production to alleviate the financial burden, deepen the national impact, and activate the role of the Arab League in this regard.

It called on the Arab States Broadcasting Union (ASBU) and the Federation of Arab News Agencies (FANA) to maintain efforts and intensify coverage on Jerusalem and the practices of Israel through news exchange with European, African and Asian countries.

The council called on Arab media to promote programs and projects and create information programs on the city of Jerusalem, and its people.

It endorsed the international media plan to counter the unilateral US decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, in implementation of the resolutions of the recent Arab summit in the city of Dhahran; which includes various TV and radio programs and activities that shed light on the repercussions of the US decision to move its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
