RAMALLAH, May 9, 2018 (WAFA) – Israeli forces Wednesday conducted multiple overnight raids across occupied East Jerusalem and the West Bank and detained 19 Palestinians, including a woman and her two sons, said the Palestine Prisoner’s Society (PPS).
Israeli security services raided the East Jerusalem neighborhood of Issawiya where they detained eight Palestinians, including at least one minor, after breaking into and ransacking their family homes.
Another Palestinian was detained during an army raid in the southern West Bank district of Bethlehem.
In Hebron city, troops raided and ransacked houses of two siblings and seized 20,000 Israeli shekels (app. $5,600).
Meanwhile, Israeli forces detained a Palestinian and ransacked several homes in Azzun town, east of Qalqilya in the northern West Bank.
According to witnesses, soldiers reportedly fired flares and tear gas canisters while withdrawing from the town, causing fires to break out in olive orchards and wheat fields.
They also detained a Palestinian woman together with her two sons from Qaqiliya city. The detainees were reportedly Palestinian citizens of Israel.
In Salfit district, forces detained two Palestinians after storming and searching their family homes in Deir Istiya, a town to the east of Salfit.
In Nablus district, forces detained at least three Palestinians from their homes in Asira al-Shemaliya, north of the city.
Another Palestinian was detained in a separate raid into Beit Liqya town, southwest of Ramallah.
In addition to the 19 above, Israel has also detained on Tuesday five minors from the Ramallah-area town of Kufr Malek aged 13 and 14 years, according to the PPS.
